xAI launches Grok Business and Enterprise for companies

xAI has introduced Grok Business and Grok Enterprise, two plans that bring its AI assistant to the workplace with team controls, connections to internal tools and a commitment that company data will not be used to train models.

Grok Business is designed for small and midsize teams. It can be purchased through a self-service process and lets colleagues share a single platform, with the highest usage limits for xAI’s most advanced models.

Grok Enterprise adds features for larger organizations, including custom sign-in through SSO and directory synchronization with SCIM. These tools make it possible to automatically manage who has access when someone joins or leaves the company.

Grok can search your company documents

The first available connection is Google Drive. Grok can search information in company documents, but it preserves the permissions already set in Drive: if you do not have access to a file in Google Drive, you will not be able to view it through Grok either.

Each response includes citations linking to the original documents, along with highlighted excerpts. This makes it possible to check where an answer comes from, which is especially important when AI is used to prepare reports, review contracts or analyze financial figures.

It can also search large document collections through Projects and the Collections API, an xAI tool for querying extensive document repositories. For example, a company could use it to analyze the documentation for a legal transaction or build a financial model from an internal repository.

Share without opening the door to the whole company

Employees can share conversations and ideas with colleagues through protected links. Only people authorized by the person sharing the link will be able to access it.

Administrators manage the team from the xAI console. From there, they can:

• Invite or remove users.
• Control access permissions.
• Monitor Grok usage in real time.

The idea is for Grok to be more than an individual chatbot. It is meant to be a shared work tool that the organization can oversee.

Vault separates the most sensitive data

For enterprise customers with stricter security requirements, xAI offers Vault. This tier uses a data environment isolated from the system shared with other customers and allows the company to control its own encryption keys.

Data is encrypted both during transmission and while stored. Vault also adds:

• A dedicated data plane.
• Application-level encryption.
• Customer-managed encryption keys, known as CMEK.

The difference matters because, without Vault, the assistant runs on shared, multi-tenant infrastructure. With Vault, data is stored and processed in a separate environment for more sensitive enterprise applications.

What changes for companies

For a team, the practical benefit is being able to ask Grok to find information in its documents without manually copying it into the chat. It can help locate a clause across hundreds of files, summarize a project or prepare an analysis with direct links to the sources.

But the announced protection does not eliminate the need to review responses. Citations help verify the information, and access controls reduce the risk of exposure, but the company still has to decide which documents to connect and who can access them.

xAI plans to add more connections to enterprise applications, configurable agents for specific tasks and better features for sharing and collaboration. The next step will be seeing whether those integrations arrive with the same level of permissions, traceability and isolation that xAI promises for Google Drive.
