xAI brings Grok, Cursor and X together in one subscription
xAI launches The X Subscription, an offering that brings Grok, Cursor and X together in five plans ranging from free to 200 dollars per month. Paid plans share a usage pool across chat and coding, while third-party models in Cursor are billed separately.

xAI has just brought Grok, Cursor and X Premium into a single subscription. The new service, called The X Subscription, is now becoming available to new customers and will roll out globally to all users over the next few days.
The idea is to bring the three parts of xAI's ecosystem into one plan: use Grok to chat and create, Cursor to code, and X to publish and discover content. Access to the services is managed through one account, with a shared usage pool for Grok and Cursor.
Five plans, from free to 200 dollars
The offer is organized as follows:
- Free: 0 dollars per month, with limited daily access to Grok, features such as Chat, Imagine, Voice and Build, plus an initial allocation for Cursor's coding agents.
- Plus: 8 dollars per month, with more Grok and Cursor usage, a verification badge, creator tools and fewer ads on X.
- Premium: 30 dollars per month, with the features previously offered separately by SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+, whose combined price was 90 dollars per month.
- Super: 100 dollars per month, with 15 times the usage included in the Plus plan.
- Ultra: 200 dollars per month, with 50 times the usage included in Plus.
On paid plans, usage of Grok's models is shared across the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X and Cursor. If you spend less on one service, you can use the remaining balance on the other. The allocation renews weekly, not monthly, so one day of intensive use does not consume the entire budget for the period.
Each new tier includes at least twice as much coding usage as the equivalent Cursor plan. If you use up your allocation, you can buy more through top-ups or wait for the next renewal. The settings panel shows how much usage remains available.
What changes for current subscribers?
SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium customers do not lose anything immediately. They can keep their current plan, price and features, or switch to The X Subscription from the billing settings once the option appears in their account.
The change takes effect immediately and generates a prorated refund for the unused time on the previous plan. xAI is also offering limited promotions to customers who make the switch now. The previous plans will no longer be available to new subscribers, although the company has not yet set a date for automatically moving customers who remain on them.
Annual subscriptions continue until their end date. Any later change will take effect at renewal, with advance notice.
Cursor keeps third-party models
Models from other companies remain available in Cursor starting with the Premium plan. However, their use is billed separately at the public API rates, through top-ups. Users can set spending limits.
People who already have a Cursor plan keep their included third-party model usage until they switch to The X Subscription.
For teams, the Premium, Super and Ultra plans cost 30, 100 and 200 dollars per user per month, respectively. They include single sign-on, administration controls, centralized billing, usage analytics and SOC 2 compliance. xAI says they offer three times more coding usage per user than the old Cursor Teams plans.
For you, the main change is simple: instead of paying for separate services, you can put your budget into a single usage pool. The question will be how much your chat, generation and coding tasks actually consume, since the balance does not represent the same amount of work across all products. You will also need to watch the cost of top-ups if you use third-party models or frequently exhaust your weekly allocation.
