Grok Imagine Video 1.5 arrives in the xAI API

xAI now offers Grok Imagine Video 1.5 generally through its API after moving it out of preview. The model turns an initial image into a video by describing the movement, with options to choose the resolution and duration.

The company has also launched Video 1.5 Fast at grok.com/imagine and in its iOS and Android apps. It is designed to generate videos faster without changing the basic workflow: you upload an image, write what you want to happen and wait for the result.

More movement and synchronized audio

According to xAI, the new version improves several areas compared with the previous model:

• Generates sound effects, ambient audio and dialogue as part of the same process as the video.
• Better synchronizes speech with mouth movements and action.
• Keeps movement more consistent throughout the clip.
• Reduces distortions and strange movements in objects and characters.
• Better represents weight, momentum and continuity of actions.

You can see the difference in specific use cases. An image of a person running can become a scene where the movement preserves balance and direction more accurately, instead of changing unexpectedly halfway through the video.

Nearly twice as fast

The Video 1.5 Fast variant focuses on reducing wait times. xAI says it generates 6-second videos at 720p resolution in about 25 seconds, compared with more than 40 seconds for the previous model.

The difference matters most when you are testing ideas. Instead of waiting nearly a minute to check each prompt, you can iterate faster and discard versions that do not work sooner.

New tools for organizing projects

The update is not limited to the video model. Grok Imagine also adds several features for working with more than one creation at a time:

• Projects lets you organize your work from its own section in the sidebar.
• You can start multiple agents in parallel within a project, without waiting for one generation to finish before starting the next.
• A search tool lets you find previous images and videos in your library.

These features address a simple but increasingly common problem: generating content is getting easier, but finding and organizing everything you create can become a separate task.

For API users, grok-imagine-video-1.5 is now generally available. For everyone else, Video 1.5 Fast is coming to the web and mobile apps. The next thing to watch is whether these improvements in movement, sound and speed hold up equally well in longer, more complex scenes.
