Grok comes to Google Workspace as an AI assistant

Grok can now work alongside your Google Sheets, Slides and Docs files through a single Google Workspace add-on. You can install it from Google Workspace Marketplace and use it to analyze data, create presentations or turn notes into editable documents.

What Grok does in Sheets

In a spreadsheet, you can ask questions about the data and receive answers based on the file itself. Grok identifies the cells it used, so you can check where each result comes from.

It can also write and complete formulas, insert charts and rerun scenarios when you change an assumption. For example, if you modify a sales forecast or a cost, it can update the model without making you rebuild it from scratch.

Each modification is applied as a normal Sheets edit. You can review and undo it just like any other change to the file.

From an outline to an editable presentation

In Google Slides, Grok turns an outline into a working presentation. It can research information on the web or on X and add diagrams or images when they help explain the content.

It can also expand an existing presentation while preserving its visual theme and rewrite titles so each slide communicates its main idea more clearly. The result is a normal, editable presentation, not an image or exported file that you have to rebuild later.

This can be useful, for example, for turning a list of points into a sales presentation, an internal report or a presentation with charts and a coherent structure.

Documents with structure and context

In Google Docs, Grok works directly where you write. It can turn disorganized notes into a draft with headings and lists, correct grammar within the document and maintain a consistent style across long files.

If you enable the relevant connectors, it can also search recent emails or files stored in Google Drive. That lets you draft a document using information that already exists in your work environment instead of copying it manually between applications.

Also available for Microsoft 365

Grok's Google Workspace add-on is free, and a single installation covers Sheets, Slides and Docs. Grok is also available for Microsoft 365 in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The practical difference is that the AI is not limited to answering in a separate window. It can modify the file you have open while preserving changes that you can review and undo. You should keep an eye on which data it has permission to access, especially when you enable connections to email, documents or external services.
