Grok Build opens AI app creation to everyone

Grok now lets you create functional apps, games, websites and dashboards by describing what you want in a chat. The tool is available to everyone on the web, iOS and Android, after several improvements since its initial beta.

When it launched in July, Grok Build was in early beta and available only to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers. It now generates apps faster, lets you publish and share them, integrates with X and can connect them to xAI’s AI models.

You do not need to start with code. You can write something like: “Create a 3D driving game through an endless forest, with no missions or timers and a peaceful atmosphere.” Grok generates a playable version inside the conversation, and you can then ask it to make changes.

Every app gets its own link

Published creations receive a grok.me address. You decide who can open them:

• Only you
• Anyone with the link
• Everyone on the internet

You can also connect a custom domain if you want to present the application at a personalized address.

Grok also generates a cover image for each project. That image appears as a rich preview when you share the link in messages, chats, documents or social networks. You can regenerate it, upload your own image or ask Grok to redesign it during the conversation.

What changes when you share on X

Apps published on X do not appear as simple links. The card shows a banner directly in the timeline, includes your username and, in the case of games, may show an option to play right away.

That lets other people understand what you have created before leaving X. For a simple game, an interactive tool or a prototype, it can significantly shorten the distance between discovering an idea and trying it.

Apps can use Grok too

A more important new feature is built into the application itself. If you activate the SpaceXAI APIs for a project, it can call Grok to generate text, images and voice from its own code.

You do not have to create, copy or renew access keys. Permissions are assigned per app, and you can revoke them whenever you want. In practice, this lets you create things like:

• A quiz game that invents new challenges on demand
• A support page that responds in a defined style
• A notes app that automatically summarizes its content

The tool does not turn every idea into a finished product without supervision. The result will depend on how clear the request is and on the adjustments you make afterward. But it does remove the first obstacle: turning a written description into something other people can open and try.

Grok Build turns chat into a starting point for creating and publishing software. What remains to be seen is how far those applications can go when they need more control, security and features than a conversation can generate.
