Google Vids creates HD videos with AI for free, for everyone

Google Vids now lets you create high-definition videos with AI without paying or knowing how to edit. Anyone with a Google account or Google Workspace account can generate scenes, combine them into a story, and export the result using Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash.

The tool is designed to turn an idea, a few images, or a short script into a usable video. For example, a store can photograph its new products and turn them into a social media ad without hiring an editor or learning to use complex software.

More control over each scene

The feature is activated from the Google Vids creation menu by selecting “Create videos with AI.” Unlike a system that only generates a clip from a prompt, Omni 1.1 lets you adjust different aspects of the result:

• Extend scenes while preserving the visual context, lighting, characters’ appearance, and setting.
• Choose an exact duration so the clip fits the narration or the rest of the edit.
• Generate scenes in 1080p or improve the resolution of previously created clips so they fit better into the timeline.

This matters because a useful video is not built from eye-catching images alone. Shots also need to last long enough, elements should not change without a reason, and the edit needs to follow the rhythm of the story.

Google presents Vids as a tool for very different users, from someone launching a project to a marketing team running an international campaign. The suggested uses include:

• Create a launch video from a prepared template.
• Present products, services, or news from a local business.
• Prepare ads for social media, websites, and digital events.
• Promote community activities, clubs, or fundraising campaigns.

Generation is available at no cost to any Google account or Google Workspace account. Paid Google AI accounts and Workspace Business and Enterprise plans will offer more capacity, along with administration tools for teams.

Generated content will include a digital watermark

Every clip created with Omni 1.1 in Google Vids includes an imperceptible digital watermark called SynthID. It is embedded in the frames and makes it possible to verify that the video was generated with AI.

For anyone publishing a video, this provides a signal of transparency. For anyone watching it, that means there will be a way to check its origin, even though the watermark is not visible to the naked eye.

Narration in more than 100 languages

Google is also preparing a text-to-speech feature based on Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite. When it arrives in Google Vids, it will let you turn a written script into natural-sounding narration in more than 100 languages.

The combination could simplify much of the process: you write the text, generate the scenes, adjust their duration, and add the voice without leaving the same tool. Human review and final editing will still matter, especially when the video represents a company or includes sensitive information.

Google Vids brings video production within reach of people who previously needed time, a budget, or technical skills. What to watch now is how the tool performs in complex scenes and how much real control it offers when the generated result does not match the original idea.
