Gemini expands its memory and personal features
Google updates Gemini with history imports from other assistants, connections between Gmail, Photos, and YouTube, and voice conversations that retain twice as much context. It also adds Google TV features and music creation of up to three minutes with Lyria 3 Pro for subscribers.
Gemini can now import your conversations and memories from other AI assistants, connect information from your Google apps, and maintain longer conversations. Google has introduced these and other updates in its March update for the app.
The core idea is simple: you should not have to start from scratch every time you use Gemini. You will notice these features in everyday tasks, from planning a trip to creating a song.
Import your history from other assistants
Gemini lets you transfer saved memories and chat history from other AI providers in just a few steps. This gives it context about your previous conversations and preferences without making you explain everything again.
For example, if you had already worked with another assistant on planning a project, you can bring that information into Gemini and continue from there. The feature aims to reduce one of the biggest frustrations of switching tools: losing the context you have built up.
Personal Intelligence comes free to the United States
The Personal Intelligence feature will be available at no cost to all Gemini users in the United States. By connecting information from Gmail, Google Photos, and YouTube, Gemini can provide answers that are better suited to each person.
In practice, it could help you organize a vacation using details from your emails, photos, and YouTube interests. It can also help you prepare a personal project by considering information you already have spread across those apps.
The announced availability is currently limited to users in the United States. Google does not say when the feature will reach other countries.
Google TV adds visual answers
Google is also adding Gemini features to Google TV. The television can provide visual answers and more detailed narrated explanations about what you are looking for.
That can be useful if you want to explore a destination, understand a topic better, or find related content without limiting yourself to a list of results. The screen does not just show options. It also presents the information in a more guided way.
Music of up to three minutes with Lyria 3 Pro
Subscribers can create songs of up to three minutes with Lyria 3 Pro, Google's music generation model. The tool turns photos or written ideas into complete songs with lyrics and high-fidelity production.
You can start with an image, an emotion, or a concept and let the system suggest a composition. The announcement does not present this feature as available to all users, but specifically to subscribers.
Gemini Live keeps more context
The biggest Gemini Live update applies to conversations based on Gemini 3.1. Dialogues move faster and can maintain context for twice as long, according to Google.
That means fewer repetitions when you are thinking out loud, correcting an idea, or changing direction within the same conversation. The experience feels more like a continuous conversation than a series of isolated questions.
These updates point in the same direction: Gemini wants to be less of a tool you consult and more of an assistant that remembers, connects, and supports your tasks. What to watch now is its availability outside the United States and how much control users have over the data they import or connect.
