Gemini 4 Argon comes to Google's app
Google is adding Gemini 4 Argon to its app for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, with improvements in reasoning, coding, and extended tasks. It also adds a mode for carrying out actions and connections to more than 40 applications, including Instacart, OpenTable, Adobe, and Shopify.

Google now offers Gemini 4 Argon in the Gemini app for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. The new model is designed to handle complex tasks with more direct answers, fewer detours, and less repetition.
It also reduces the usual clichés found in AI assistants. During longer tasks, it shares its progress more often so you know what it is doing and do not have to wait without context.
More features for coding and completing tasks
Argon is particularly better at coding. In the Gemini app for macOS, Google directly integrates the autonomous coding interface from Google Antigravity. This lets you move from a conversation to a coding session without switching tools.
The other new feature is a task mode that you can activate from the main chat window. Instead of only responding, Gemini can take actions for you, even when you are not in front of your computer.
For example, it can help you organize activities within your Google apps. The goal is for chat to do more than tell you how to do something. It can also complete part of the work.
Gemini connects with more than 40 applications
Gemini is expanding its connections to external services and now works with more than 40 applications, including:
- Instacart, to order groceries
- OpenTable, to reserve tables
- Adobe, to design and edit
- Shopify, to create and manage a business
The usefulness depends on the permissions and features available in each service, but the shift is clear: Gemini wants to become an access point for taking actions across multiple applications from a single conversation.
For you, this means Gemini is moving beyond generating text or answering questions. It can serve as an assistant for researching, coding, and managing specific tasks, although access to Argon and task features requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
The next thing to watch is how much work it can actually complete without supervision and what controls it offers before carrying out actions. The difference between suggesting a reservation and making it for you comes down to permissions, review, and the ability to correct mistakes.
