Claude Integrates with Microsoft 365 and Searches Internal Data

Claude now includes a Microsoft 365 connector that lets you search and analyze documents, emails, chats, and calendars from a single conversation. The feature is available to Team and Enterprise customers, but an administrator must enable it and configure the company’s sources.

Claude can now access Microsoft 365 documents, emails, chats, and calendars without requiring you to upload each file manually. Anthropic has launched a connector for SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams, along with an enterprise search feature that brings together an organization’s internal knowledge.

The idea is simple: instead of searching across several applications and piecing the information together yourself, you can ask Claude to investigate connected sources and respond using that context.

What the Microsoft 365 connector can do

The connector works through MCP, a standard that allows Claude to connect to external tools. Once enabled by an administrator, it can work with:

  • SharePoint and OneDrive: Locate and analyze documents such as project specifications, strategic plans, or files stored across different libraries.
  • Outlook: Review email threads, extract information from conversations, and help you understand a project’s status, customer feedback, or team coordination.
  • Microsoft Teams: Search messages, channel discussions, and meeting summaries to find decisions, updates, and topics discussed by the team.

This does not turn Claude into a replacement for those applications. Its role is to help you find and connect information that is already spread across them.

For example, you could ask it to gather everything related to a client. Claude could combine the latest Outlook emails, a presentation saved in SharePoint, and decisions discussed in Teams to give you a single summary.

One search for the entire company

Anthropic is also enabling enterprise search through a shared, customized project named after each organization. The administrator can configure instructions to help Claude search more effectively, connect the relevant tools, and prepare the information sources the team will use.

Once configured, anyone in the organization can search the knowledge available across those services from one place. A question about remote work policy, for example, could bring together information from human resources documents, internal emails, and guidelines shared in Teams.

The feature can be useful in several specific cases:

  • Onboarding new people without requiring them to review dozens of systems.
  • Analyzing patterns in customer feedback.
  • Quickly finding internal experts on a particular topic.
  • Answering strategic questions using information spread across the company.

What changes for you

If you work at a company that uses Microsoft 365, Claude can reduce much of the time spent gathering context before making a decision. Instead of copying documents, searching through messages, and reconstructing a project’s history, you can start with a question and review an answer based on multiple sources.

That said, access is not enabled automatically for every user. The administrator must enable the connector for the organization, and each person must authenticate their account. For enterprise search, the administrator must also configure the project and select the sources that will be available.

The Microsoft 365 connector is now available to customers on the Claude Team and Enterprise plans. Enterprise search is also enabled for those organizations, although it requires prior administrator configuration. The next important question will be how companies manage permissions, connected sources, and answer accuracy when Claude searches internal information.
