Anthropic raises $65 billion for its Claude AI
Anthropic has raised $65 billion in its Series H round, reaching a post-money valuation of $965 billion. The company will use the capital to expand computing capacity, strengthen Claude's safety and accelerate its adoption by businesses.

Anthropic has raised $65 billion in a new funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $965 billion. The company says it will use the capital to expand computing capacity, strengthen its safety research and bring Claude to more businesses and products.
The round, known as Series H, is led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital. Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ and XN are also participating, along with other major institutional investors.
A post-money valuation shows how much a company is worth after receiving the investment. In this case, Anthropic is valued at $965 billion, although that figure does not mean the company has received that amount in cash or that its shares could easily be sold at that price.
Claude is already part of the business
Anthropic says companies across different sectors are using Claude in core operations, not just testing it. The assistant is used for tasks such as coding, document analysis, process automation and supporting professional decisions.
The company also says its annualized revenue, meaning the pace of revenue it would maintain over a year if it continued at its current level, exceeded $47 billion at the beginning of May. This is a figure reported by Anthropic and does not necessarily equal revenue already collected over a full year.
The funding will mainly go toward three areas:
- Safety and interpretability research, which aims to better understand how models work and reduce unwanted behavior.
- More computing capacity to train and run Claude as demand increases.
- Product development and commercial agreements for businesses, including Claude Code and Cowork.
For you, this could mean AI tools capable of handling longer and more complex tasks. For example, a company could ask Claude to review large volumes of contracts, prepare changes to a software project or coordinate several steps in an internal process. The final quality will depend on controls and human oversight, but the goal is for AI to stop being an isolated application and become part of daily work.
More data centers to support growth
Anthropic is also expanding the infrastructure needed to run Claude. The company has signed agreements with Amazon to access up to five gigawatts of new capacity and with Google and Broadcom for another five gigawatts of TPU-based capacity. TPUs are chips designed specifically for artificial intelligence workloads.
It has also agreed to access GPU capacity at SpaceX's Colossus 1 and Colossus 2 data centers. Anthropic says Claude is the first advanced model available on all three major cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. AWS remains its main cloud provider and training partner.
The round also includes $15 billion in previously committed investments from major infrastructure providers, including $5 billion from Amazon. Micron, Samsung and SK hynix are joining as strategic partners to supply memory, storage and logic chips.
The important figure is not just the size of the investment. Anthropic is trying to secure the money, chips and data center capacity it needs at the same time to compete in a market where every new business user demands more computing power.
The next point to watch will be whether Claude's growth turns that demand into sustainable revenue and whether Anthropic can expand its infrastructure without weakening its safety controls. The company is also preparing Claude Opus 4.8, an update focused on coding, autonomous tasks and long-running professional work.
