Anthropic launches Claude Design for creating prototypes

Anthropic has launched Claude Design, a tool that lets you create prototypes, presentations, visual designs and webpages by talking to Claude. The service is available as a research preview for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscribers, with a gradual rollout throughout the day.

The goal is to reduce the time between an idea and something you can show, test or share. Describe what you need and Claude generates a first version. You can then adjust the result by commenting on specific elements, making direct edits or using controls created by the AI to change the spacing, color or layout.

Claude Design runs on Claude Opus 4.7, Anthropic's most capable vision model, according to the company. It can work with text, images and DOCX, PPTX and XLSX documents. It can also analyze existing code or capture elements directly from a website so a prototype resembles the real product.

From draft to working prototype

The tool is not limited to generating static images. It can turn a mockup into an interactive prototype that you share through a link to collect feedback or test a flow before writing code.

It can also create:

• Wireframes and feature mockups for product teams to hand off to design or implementation.
• Presentations and pitch decks that can later be exported to PPTX or sent to Canva.
• Landing pages, social media assets and other marketing materials.
• Prototypes with voice, video, graphics, 3D elements and integrated AI features.

When the design is ready, Claude can prepare a handoff package for Claude Code. This means the development team receives more than an image. It also gets the context and design decisions needed to build it.

Visual identity is applied from the start

During setup, Claude can read a team's code and design files to create its visual system. This system brings together elements such as colors, typefaces and components, and is applied automatically to later projects.

Teams can maintain more than one system and refine them over time. In practice, this is meant to prevent every presentation, mockup or webpage from looking as though it was made according to different rules. The tool aims to ensure that the result follows the company's identity from the first draft.

Designs can be kept private, shared with anyone in the organization who has the link or opened for other members to edit. You can also collaborate as a group with Claude inside the same project.

What this changes for you

If you work in product, marketing or sales, Claude Design can let you prepare something visual without waiting for a designer to become available. You can walk into a meeting with a navigable mockup instead of an abstract explanation.

For designers, the benefit is being able to explore more options. Instead of choosing the first two or three ideas because of time constraints, they can generate several directions, compare them and spend more time refining the one that makes sense.

That does not eliminate human review. AI can produce a first version quickly, but message clarity, accessibility, a consistent experience and brand decisions still require judgment.

Claude Design is included in the Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, and uses each subscription's usage limits. Anthropic allows users to enable additional usage when they reach that limit. In Enterprise accounts, the feature is disabled by default and must be enabled by an administrator.

For now, the next step will be seeing whether generation speed holds up when teams work with complex projects and real design systems. Anthropic is also preparing integrations with more tools, while the Canva connection aims to turn these drafts into editable, collaborative designs.
